BJP warms up to Kalyan Singh
LUCKNOW: State BJP chief Vinay Katiyar, who is better known for his proximity to the RSS, appears to be busy preparing the ground for two things -- Kalyan Singh’s re-entry into the Sangh Parivar and re-creating the atmosphere of 1991.
Talking to the Times News Network, Katiyar said: “You cannot play down Kalyan Singh’s contributions to the BJP.
1x1 polls
It was he who saw to it that the party took roots in villages. Before his era the BJP, or for that matter the then Jan Sangh, existed only in some urban centres in the state. I shall be extremely happy if he gets back to the party-fold.
In the same vein, the BJP chief added: “It’s time we recreate the atmosphere of 1991. Thanks to the excavations in Ayodhya, we may not need to prove our point any longer that a temple existed there. All that we stood for is possibly going to be established. The excavators have already found remnants of idols and many other things. We shall now write to all MPs cutting across party line to help us create the atmosphere for construction of the Ram tem
He is equally unconcerned about the behind-the-scene moves and counter-moves of those who don’t want to see Kalyan back in the party. Without saying so in as many words, he made it clear that his party would take a collective decision in this regard. Individuals may have different opinions but once the party takes a decision everyone has to fall in line, he feels.
Other top leaders in the state BJP here hold similar views. Urban development minister Lalji Tandon, who functions as a bridge between the BJP and the BSP, doesn’t discuss the Kalyan issue publicly. All that he says in this context is that he enjoys excellent personal rapport with all political leaders, including Kalyan.
Perhaps, he is right. For, Kalyan visited Tandon at UP Sadan when the two leaders were there in New Delhi last week. Also, on his part Kalyan has never attacked Tandon even when he was being hounded by most of the state BJP leade
